Upgrade Training Webinar Schedule

February 26, 2013

With how busy EnergyU Administrators can be, we understand that devoting a large chunk of your day to training might be difficult. That is why we have scheduled a series of short webinars to provide you with the details of how to perform common administrative functions in EnergyU Version 8.

The series of five 30-minute webinars will be held March 18-22 from 11:15 to 11:45 CST. The first in the series will provide a general overview and discuss the major changes you will see with Version 8. Following sessions will cover, in detail, how to perform specific administrative tasks. Have no fear if you are unable to make all five sessions — each session will be recorded and available for later viewing.

Mandatory Content Creator Update Required

February 7, 2013

CERTPOINT has informed us of a mandatory update required for Content Creator. This is due to an add-on in the current Content Creator authoring tool that converts PowerPoint to Flash. We apologize for the short notice, but this update to Content Creator 6 Build 90 must be completed by February 14, 2013.

What this requires of you…
Any courses that are currently retrieved must be published to the edit server prior to 7:00pm (CST) on February 14. Once the update is complete you will not be able to publish courses from a prior build, so any changes made on your local copy would be lost.

On February 15 by 7:00am (CST) the new Content Creator build will be available for download. Make sure to uninstall Content Creator from your computer before downloading and installing the new build. For download and installation instructions, visit:
http://www.energytrainingnetwork.org/VLS50/contentcreator/installation.htm

In general, the new PowerPoint conversion engine is more streamlined as it simplifies the author’s dialogue screen, and presents a bolder navigation bar to the end user. The operation of the new engine is substantially the same as the engine it replaces and does not require additional training. The change will not affect the legacy content, and you will be able to edit it as before. It will also automatically pick-up settings such as the background color, transition, animation, sound, and the automated mode directly from the power point. This reduces the author’s work and eliminates the potential inconsistency between the source and the output during editing.
