Best Practice for selecting Login Name

September 25, 2013

EnergyU login names are unique to the system, not just to your company. If your first login choice is taken, you might need to get creative. NOTE: EnergyU login names are not case sensitive.

We recommend never using zero as the first character of a login name.

If you run a report and open it in Microsoft Excel, any leading zeros will be dropped. This means that if you include the login name in your report, when you open the report in Excel the correct login will not display. For example, 0XT67T will become XT67T. So be unique in selecting your login, but don’t start with zero.
