EnergyU and Internet Explorer

May 1, 2014

Recently, Microsoft acknowledged a security flaw impacting all versions of Internet Explorer (IE) from IE8 to IE11. A vulnerability in IE may permit a malicious site with a specially crafted Flash file to compromise the user’s machine. In order for a user to be impacted by this vulnerability, the user would need to browse to a site that has the malicious code installed on it. The EnergyU hosting environment is configured with security measures in place that permit only authorized users to upload content to the LMS application. Therefore, the potential risk that clients may incur by accessing the EnergyU is very minimal.

Bottom line… The IE security flaw does not put you at great risk when accessing EnergyU, and IE remains the supported browser for both users and administrators. However, we do recommend that you exercise caution when using IE with other sites.
