Important Upgrade Reminder for EnergyU Administrators and Authors

April 18, 2017

Both the EnergyU live and edit sites will be upgraded on April 26-27, 2017. The sites will not be accessible during the upgrade.

In preparation for this upgrade, Content Creator authors will be required to publish any retrieved courses back up to the edit site. The courses must be published up by 12 noon CDT on Monday, April 24, 2017. Failure to republish courses prior to the upgrade could cause issues with the course repository items. While the edit site will be accessible April 24-25, we ask that you do not publish or retrieve courses during this time.

We will be working to return the EnergyU sites to service as early possible on April 27, and will provide notification of upgrade completion via a blog post.

Download the Version 9.1 Update document, or register for the April 20 Upgrade Webinar to learn more.

Mandatory Content Creator Update Required

February 7, 2013

CERTPOINT has informed us of a mandatory update required for Content Creator. This is due to an add-on in the current Content Creator authoring tool that converts PowerPoint to Flash. We apologize for the short notice, but this update to Content Creator 6 Build 90 must be completed by February 14, 2013.

What this requires of you…
Any courses that are currently retrieved must be published to the edit server prior to 7:00pm (CST) on February 14. Once the update is complete you will not be able to publish courses from a prior build, so any changes made on your local copy would be lost.

On February 15 by 7:00am (CST) the new Content Creator build will be available for download. Make sure to uninstall Content Creator from your computer before downloading and installing the new build. For download and installation instructions, visit:
http://www.energytrainingnetwork.org/VLS50/contentcreator/installation.htm

In general, the new PowerPoint conversion engine is more streamlined as it simplifies the author’s dialogue screen, and presents a bolder navigation bar to the end user. The operation of the new engine is substantially the same as the engine it replaces and does not require additional training. The change will not affect the legacy content, and you will be able to edit it as before. It will also automatically pick-up settings such as the background color, transition, animation, sound, and the automated mode directly from the power point. This reduces the author’s work and eliminates the potential inconsistency between the source and the output during editing.
